If You Want To Tearn, You Gotta Start Somewhere!

April 29, 2009

“If you want to learn, you gotta start somewhere!” Yeah, that’s my friend Jet telling me, no, yelling me actually when he tried to teach me how to play poker games.  I have been keen in learning how to play poker lately because some dork here in our neighborhood called me stupid because I don’t how to play simple stupid card game like poker.  Well, I actually don’t know how to play any card game except for the good-ole’ solitaire and freecell on PC.  I’m not a betting person and I don’t play game of luck when there’s some bet at stake, because in the first place I don’t believe in luck.  There is no such thing as luck; there may be a chance but no luck.  I don’t believe in luck, you have to work for it.

I know how to compute for the probability of winning the lotto or how much is the chance of getting an ace in a deck of card, but I don’t know a single thing on how to play poker.  And I hate dork guy who call me stupid because I don’t how play it.  So, as my friend yelling at me “I have to start somewhere!” and I guess that somewhere is right now.

Tips on How to Obtain a Perfect Tan - Even Without the Sun

April 24, 2009

There are several ways on how to get a beautiful brown tan without exposing yourself in the sun.  You may try using tanning creams, spray and of course a salon service.  Whatever your method you choose in getting that perfect tan here are the tips on how maximize the effect of the sunless tan products.

  1. Do a test before the big day.  It is important to have a trial run using the same tanner before the big event.  Tanner doesn’t work the same on everyone.  Some person may have a perfect result on a particular product but it may not work well on you.
  2. Be prepared.  Do the preparatory job before applying a self-tanner.  Exfoliate first before applying a tanner and don’t shave within 24 hours of using a self-tanner. To avoid forming dark patches apply petroleum jelly to your nails, cuticles, elbows, and knees.
  3. Wear old clothes.  Tanners are known to stain garments, so it is advisable to wear your old clothes during and after the application.
  4. Use a sunscreen.  Sunless tanners do not contain sunscreen to protect your skin on against the harmful UV rays.  Make sure to apply sunscreen before going out and exposing your skin to the sun.
  5. Apply spray in the shower.  This is for the main reason that it will be easier to cleanup afterwards.  Just make sure t have a proper ventilation, to avoid sucking the stuff.
  6. Plan ahead.   You might not be able to swim in chlorinated water or even shower right after the application of the self-tanner, so plan your tan.

How to Make Your Make Your Kids Sleep On Time

April 21, 2009

Difficulty in sending kids to bed often starts during the toddler years.   Sleeplessness in young children is common occurrence related to over stimulation and poor bedtime habits.  But this can be fairly easy to change by establishing a healthy sleeping early.  Here’s how:

  1. Establish a bedtime routine.  Setting a routine and knowing what to expect is soothing and reassuring for a child.  Routine could get you child body into a pattern with this routine the child’s body will get tired at the same time every night.  Give the child a lead time of about 30 minutes to an hour before lights out.  This should include bath time, brushing teeth, putting on pajamas and story telling. It is advisable to give the child a 15-minute warning before it is time to get ready for the “go-to-bed” routine.
  2. Keep the evening calm.  After a busy day, kids need a peaceful transition to a quite evening.  After dinner activities should be relaxing, such as reading stories, drawing or playing board games.
  3. Do not bend the rules.  Establishing routine is not really easy and will not automatically reap good result.  Kids will try to explore what the limits are and will see how much they can get away.  Be firm.  If you have agreed to read two stories a night, do not give in to his request for one more.  He may eventually feel that he can change the rule.
  4. Offer choices.  Since you are not giving your child the option of staying up past bedtime or skip brushing his teeth try to find other chances for him to make choices such as what pajama to wear or what story to read.
  5. Prevent night fright.  Before you turn out the li ght, look into the closet and under the bed together so your child can see that there are no creatures hiding there.  A small night light will help keep him feeling safe throughout the night.
  6. Create a comfortable environment. You child will be more likely to stay in bed if he feels safe and happy in his room.  Some kids sleep better with soft music playing. Most importantly, do not use his room for time-outs.  Choose another location for this so as not to make this a scary place to be in.

Tips on How to Clean Fine Linens

April 20, 2009

Some fine linens are so delicate that modern detergents and washing machines are too powerful for them.  So to make sure that heirloom clothes and sheets are still intact for the next generation to enjoy here are some tips for you.

Hand-Launder Fine Linens

  1. Pre-fill a basin with warm water, stir in Castile soap and mix well.
  2. Wash one piece at a time, pressing the water gently through the fabric.  Never, ever wring the fabric.
  3. To rinse, drain the basin, refill with fresh water and again press water through fabric.
  4. To dry, lay delicate linens such as lace placemats and sheer handkerchiefs flat on clean towels.  Line drying is suitable for table linens and beddings; if necessary machine dry on low or air.

Use All-Natural Stain Removal

Bleach can dissolve delicate heirloom threads before your very eyes.  Instead, dab stains with a clean white cloth saturated with undiluted white vinegar.  For difficult stains, use solar power.  Follow these steps:

  1. Cover the spot with a pile table salt.
  2. Drizzle fresh lemon juice over the salt.
  3. Leave the fabric in the sun for several hours.
  4. Gently brush off the salt; hand-launder as usual.

 Ironing Tips

  1. Most linens cannot be ironed at the high setting.  Test first on an inconspicuous place.
  2. Press the back side first, then flip and iron the front.
  3. Piece with intricate embroidery should be ironed face down on a soft towel.
  4. Always use a pressing cloth on delicate materials.

How To Protect Your Ears During Air Travel

April 17, 2009

Traveling through air can be damaging to our ears. Air travel can produce rapid changed in air pressure, especially during descent that can seriously damage our ears.   Our Eustachian tubes that is connected to our throat and middle ear helps to stabilize the pressure in our ears.  However, if the Eustachian tubes don’t open enough, our ears may feel block and can probably cause damage to our ears.

To prevent the ear blockage during flight here are some practical tips:

  1. Chew Gums.  Chewing stimulates saliva flow, which cause us to swallow often.  Swallowing helps to open our Eustachian tubes thus prevents the ear blockage.  For babies and toddlers have them such on a bottle or pacifier.
  2. Yawn.  Yawning also helps to open our Eustachian tubes.
  3. Pinch your nose.  Pinch your nostril shut, take a mouthful of air and gently force the air into your nose as if you are trying to blow open your nostrils.  Or you may pinch you nostrils shut and swallow.
  4. Use a decongestant nasal spray.  Use the spray 30 minutes to an hour before the descent of aircraft.  Nasal spray shrinks the membranes lining in our Eustachian tubes so the tubes won’t close as easily.  A decongestant spray also helps to open blocked ears, although it is not advisable to be often.
  5. Don’t sleep when landing.  This is for the obvious reason that you may not swallow enough to keep your Eustachian tube open when you are asleep.var infolink_pid = 19182;

Tips for Efficient Online Shopping

April 15, 2009

Nowadays most people, especially the younger generation, prefer to shop online rather than going to shopping malls and bazaars. Personally, I also prefer to do shop online because of the convenience and comfort it could offer.  When I’m shopping online I don’t have to worry about the traffic, the heat, the crowd and all of those inconveniences that we usually suffer when going out to shop.

In its overall significance, online shopping provides a good alternative for those who don’t want the hassle of “real” shopping.  But one has to be careful in doing their online shopping, on this article I will give you some practical tips on how to shop online effectively and efficiently.

  1. Shop only in the secured shopping site.

When you do your shopping online look for the security icon which is usually located on the lower right corner of your screen.  Security icon looks like a padlock (a lock), this icon signify that the site is secured and your vital account and personal information is safe on this sites.

  1. Buy from seller with good reputation.

Before buying anything check the reputation of the seller first.  It is better to buy on sellers who have been established for longer period.  Don’t be fooled by flashy and glossy pictures, it is important to read reviews and testimonials about the site.  The shopping experience of the previous shoppers will tell a lot about the site.

  1. Research the Web Site Before You Order

Conduct business with shopping sites that are familiar to you, if you are unfamiliar with the company do some research about it.  For instance if you are in UK, you may use the UK shopping search engine Exspecto to find reliable online shopping site.  If you decide to buy something from an unknown company, start out with an inexpensive order to learn if the company is trustworthy.

Enjoy shopping!

Tips in Buying Toys for Kids: The tnomeralc web design toys Ways

April 6, 2009

Kids and kids-at-heart always love toys.  There are vast variety of toys to choose from, starting from cute and cuddly infant toys to educational and high tech toys for teenagers.   Shopping toys for kids could be a daunting task, because shopping for toys could either be done on a crowded mall or in unsecured online marketplace.  Before toy shopping annoyance could spoil you excitement in having a new toy let me share to you some tips on how to buy gifts.

1. Get the glimpse of their personality.  We have to remember that each person has a different interest. What other kid consider cool is uncool to others.  You have to observe what are the likes and dislikes of the person you will be buying gifts for.  Some boys would love to have Jonas Brothers’ wares but some may love to have high tech toys or educational toys.

2. Ask for advice.  What is hot and unpopular in the kids’ world is beyond the intellectual capacity of most grown-ups.  So, to have a good idea of what’s in and what’s out in the “what’s-hot-meter” in the kids circle you have to ask some advice from another kid, probably from the best friend of your child.  Usually, toys that receive the endorsement from a circle friend are commonly appreciated by kids.

3. Consult the Internet.  The majority of the major toy stores have online sites and there are also websites that specializes on selling special and custom made toys.  One of the websites that offers huge selection of toys is the tnomeralc web design toys.

Shopping for toys for kids could be time-consuming, inconvenient and not to mention costly, but seeing a face of a child light up when they receive toys could worth all the effort.  tnomeralc web design toys wish you to have good quality time with your kids and have fun with them while sharing a memorable moments.

Have you ever dreamed of having your favorite candies delivered directly right into your doorsteps?  Did you ever imagine of having a more than 2000 selection of different kinds of candies you can choose from?  It seems like heaven to me and to all kids and kids at heart out there.

Ever since I was a kid I always love candies and other sweet treats and as adults I still love feasting on those yummy sweet treats.  But nowadays I find it hard to locate my favorite candy brand when I was a kid on candy stores and it is quite a hassle to go to a candy store and fall in line kids.  It is a good thing I have discovered the sugar stand.  Sugar stand is an online candy store.  It is a one stop shop for sweets, treats and good eats.  They have more than 2,000 stock of yummy treats including those candies and sweet treats that was sold way back when I was a little kid.  They also have amazing selection of occasion candies wherein each candy was designed according to a particular occasion.

This coming Easter Sunday they have a very yummy Easter egg candy.  It looks like a real Easter egg used in Easter egg hunts.  There so many designs and variety of candies you can choose from.  On the point of view of a sweet tooth like me, this online candy store is a heaven online.
